Hemophilia is a disorder when essentially your blood does not clot. A hemophiliacs blood is missing one or more proteins that is used for clotting. Its cause is a defective gene in a chromosome. In the past hemophilia had no cure so people would just bleed out. In the past few years teansfusions have been used to treat it but in recent years revolutionary advances have made a cure for hemophilia in sight. Today normal medications including pills and needles are used. In this disorders history many famous people and royal familys have been affected including Abraham Lincoln, Mother Teresa,and the Russian and English royal familys. It is a genetic disorder so it can be passed down through a family. Some symptoms of Hemophilia are frequent nosebleeds, continuous bleeding after cuts, and joint pain and swellin. Becausewomen are the carriers and can rarely recieve it Hemophilia is 99% in men. Hemophilia has no death rate but some Hemophiliacs will die because of complications. These include bad joints, Bleeding in the brain (fatal), and internal bleeding.
